8 aktivis siswa hadapi tindakan UM: Salahkah pemimpin pembangkang dibawa masuk ke kampus diatas prinsip kebebasan berpolitik?

Apabila pemimpin pembangkang di bawa masuk ke kampus untuk aktiviti bersama siswa, pihak kampus pula tekad untuk mendakwa mereka. Pada masa yang sama, pemimpin kerajaan pula boleh memasuki dan berbuat apa sahaja bentuk aktiviti bersama siswa. Apakah ini semua melambangkan Malaysia yang demokrasi? Demokrasi Malaysia hakikatnya hanya diatas kertas, tidak pada pelaksanaannya. Baca di sini- 8 aktivis siswa hadapi tindakan UM

Jika siswa yang terlibat dihukum kerana membawa masuk ahli politik pembangkang, maka tindakan yang sama perlu diambil keatas siswa yang membawa masuk ahli politik dari pihak kerajaan pula. Ini kera ahli politik adalah ahli politik, kita tidak perlu mengira latar belakang politik atau pengaruhnya! Ketidakadilan seumpama ini tidak harus berlaku di kampus. Jika pihak kampus merasakan bahawa pelajar perlu bebas daripada politik, mereka perlu melarang segala bentuk aktiviti berunsurkan politik dan juga ahli-ahli politik samada dari pihak pembangkang ataupun kerajaan sekaligus.

Tidak sesiapapun berani bersuara apabila pemimpin BN/MIC dibawa masuk ke program sebuah kampus di selatan tanahair, risalah-risalah berkaitan 'Putera MIC' juga sering disebarkan di kampus kepada pelajar-pelajar yang berketurunan India. Pernah juga saya menerima satu borang untuk menyertai 'Putera MIC' iaitu salah satu sayap penting bagi parti MIC. Putera MIC ini berperanan menarik penyertaan siswa dan siswi diseluruh Malaysia untuk menyertai MIC. Apakah ini dibenarkan oleh Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia dan juga pihak Kampus?

Perkara ini semakin hari semakin berleluasa di selatan tanahair apabila pelajar di sebuah IPTA 'dipaksa secara tidak langsung' oleh pensyarah untuk menyertai Putera MIC. Jika mereka tidak menyertainya, pihak tertentu pula memberi amaran bahawa mungkin markah kerja kursus atau peperiksaan pelajar tejejas. Ugutan seumpama ini tidak dilaporkan kepada Jabatan Hal Ehwal Pelajar (HEP) kampus tersebut kerana, dipercayai pelajar berketurunan India yang sering melanggar perintah 'gerakan Putera MIC' di kampus tersebut menghadapi pelbagai ancaman.

Seorang pelajar senior yang membantah pergerakan tersebut pula sering dilabel sebagai 'pengacau' pelajar India, pelbagai fitnah dilemparkan keatasnya sehingga pada satu ketika, dia hampir dihukum oleh pihak kampus. Mujurlah pihak kampus tidaki hanya mendengar fitnah sebelah pihak dan telah menyelesaikan masalah dengan adil. Pelajar itu seterusnya mengambil keputusan untuk tidak mencampuri hal tersebut atas faktor tertentu.

Sesungguhnya ahli politik adalah ahli politik, latar belakang dan pengaruh tidak membezakan satu sama lain dalam kalangan mereka. Jadi saya amat berharap Kementerian-kementerian terlibat dan pihak pentadbiran IPTA mengambi langkah yang sewajarnya untuk menjaga kepentingan institusi demokrasi negara dan masa depan penuntut/pelajar itu sendiri.

I can smell racism everywhere, so when we going to unite?

Racism haunts us very much after more than half century of Independence. Over the 50 years, We Malay, Chinese and Indian have shed our blood, tear and sweat to build up this nation. We have sacrifice a lot for the cause of unity, integrity and progress. Why until today there are no successes for these struggles?

Sincerely, I ask this question not to belittle our achievements, but to inspire us to greater effort. I ask not to make us feel dispirited, but to enthuse us to march forward to achieve the unity through Bangsa Malaysia concept. Today, when we look back, we can say with dissatisfaction that we are blindly moving forward in the wrong direction. We have been slow in taking some steps, especially when unity is the matter. We have failed to battle against racism especially when position, economic, education, sports and other main fields are the subjects.

Bangsa Malaysia must be in every Malaysian citizen’s mind. We must fritter away our time on minor issues and pointless personal dissimilarities. All political parties and NGO leaders must stop divide people along racial lines and threat every citizen fairly without discrimination or intimidation. Our strength is in our unity, despite our diversity. We can’t deny the fact that unity gave us our Independence that today we are enjoying and the strength of a nation that we can be proud of.

I can smell racism everywhere. Let’s throw away this ‘third class’ mentality. Let’s unite to build our nation for our future generation. Every citizen of Malaysia must feel proud to say - I'm a Malaysian! Can we start it from today?

Malaysia's poor performance in 2009 Oxford/Cisco Global Broadband Quality Score: MSC failed?

The latest global Broadband Quality Study revealed that three Asian countries South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong are world leaders in providing top quality consumer broadband services. Thirteen years ago Malaysia proclaimed the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) as “a gift to the world” and the centerpiece of the country’s strategic initiative to leapfrog the nation into the IT era to become one of the world IT powers.

It's a fact that Malaysia is not an international IT hotspots due to its poor quality, billion of investments in Cyberjaya failed to produce Malaysia to deliver quality broadband services to consumers. According to the 2009 Oxford/Cisco Global Broadband Quality Score survey, Malaysia ranks 53rd out of 66 countries in terms of the quality and reach of its network. Some of our leader will proudly proclaim that the country is still ahead of Somalia, Zimbabwe, Haiti and ect. Shame on you!

This year, the study covers a total of 66 countries (and 13 are from Asia); additional 24 countries compared to 2008, plus new analysis on broadband quality in more than 240 cities. In terms of Broadband Leadership score, among Asian countries, Malaysia is behind South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan and ahead of China and India.

Malaysia's quality of broadband below today's application threshold. We should have emerged as the worlds IT power. But why has Malaysia trailed so badly behind other countries when we were the first in the IT start-off with the proclamation of MSC in 1996? Ask yourself, who to blame?

THE WIDENING GAP

It’s hard to accept the fact that our nation left far behind compare to other developed and developing nations in Asia. In fact, Japan is in first class, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan in second class, poor Malaysia only able to compete with third class nations thus its nothing wrong to call Malaysia as third class nation. Even China and India fast becoming the economic power house in the making in this region althpgh once they were among the third class poor nations.

Statistics shows that Singaporeans, Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese richer than us. Why we have failed although our annual fuel/petroleum export income more than RM70 Billion? We have lost the battle to those nations that lack of natural sources. We are now in dangerous zone while facing world economic crisis impacts.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDP) is one of the few elected monarchs in the world. Malaysia is constitutional monarchy with an elected monarch as head of state. Constitutional monarchy is a form of government in which a monarch acts as head of state whose powers are defined by the parameters of a written or unwritten constitution. Yang di-Pertuan Agong should always maintain neutrality in politics.

In Malaysia, people believe that ruler is always above politics, somehow recent incidents shows Yang di-Pertuan's Agong's intervention in politics. Sometimes a ruler could not act fairly if 'he' is politically motivated. This is not good for a nation and also the institution. I know that I'm just an ordinary people to say this, but my wish is to see my beloved nation always peace under Yang di-Pertuan Agong rule.
