ANOTHER PROJECT TO KILL THE DEMOCRACY

The draconian, barbaric and controversial law Internal Security Act (ISA) should be repealed and not reviewed. When anything is evil, it should be abolished. There are no two ways about it. I would like to encourage all Malaysians to call on the Government to release all the ISA detainees and to repeal the Act.

Just look at the project announcement by the government in the information board. "PROJEK KERAJAAN BARISAN NASIONAL: MEREKABENTUK , BINA DAN MENYIAPKAN KAWASAN TAHANAN TEMPAT PERLINDUNGAN TAIPING, PERAK." I would like to ask government that there are much more poor peoples out there with the financial crisis around, how could you still can upgrade the the unwanted facilities like ISA just to to silence the democracy in Malaysia?

I hope they let all Malaysian to determine country's future by openly discuss and express their views on all issues without fear or favour. A government of democratic principles will not detain any person without trial, its a violation of rule of law and and human rights defitely!

Singaporean Cops are not Malaysian Cops

A MCA leader initially fined S$15,000 (RM36, 000) for offering a bribe to a Singaporean traffic policeman was yesterday sentenced to jail for six weeks following an appeal by the prosecution. Justice Rajah added that the jail term meted out to Lim Teck Choon, 56, took into account mitigating factors raised by his lawyer. He would otherwise have been jailed two to three months. A traffic police officer caught Lim making an illegal U-turn on Woodlands Road and driving against the flow of traffic for 50m. While waiting for a vehicle to take Lim back to the police station, Sergeant Pah Wenxiang tried to defuse the tense situation by starting a conversation.

Lim told the police officer that he owned a few plantations in Malaysia and knew high-ranking officials. During the conversation, he abruptly asked Pah in Mandarin: “Why want to do this? Be enemy? You should let me go. We can be friends. Next time you come to Malaysia, I will take care of you. Still got good things.” He also made a gesture that the officer took as an offer of money.

When the sergeant told him it was an offence to bribe a police officer, Lim backed off on his offer. Lim initially contested the charge of offering a bribe, but pleaded guilty on the second day of trial and was fined S$15,000. He was also fined S$2,500 and banned from driving for six months for dangerous driving. Lim's lawyer asked for the sentence to start on Feb 1 so that Lim can spend time with his family for Chinese New Year. Rajah agreed and granted bail of S$30,000.

Lim, who has business interests on both sides of the Causeway, is a member of the MCA and the party's deputy chairman in the town of Kampong Jawa in Johor. A philanthropist, he regularly donates money to temples and an orphanage; in 1988, he donated a building for a school.

What a shame for Malaysian? The corrupted cops and corrupting peoples are a lot in Malaysia. But the same thing does not happen in Singapore, Singaporean are much more ethical when carrying their responsibilities. The MCA leader had a misperception against the policemen; he thought that the Singaporean have the same attitude as Malaysian. He may used to bribe Malaysian police several times and Malaysian police did not take any legal action against him. So he tried it in Singapore hope that same thing would happen thus he can runaway without face proper fine.

MIC Leaders Facing MIED Scandal

MIC’s Maika Holdings has failed to help the community. Its 66,000 investors have not received returns for their RM106 million investment after 25 years. It has experienced several controversies, including the missing nine million Telekom shares allocated to the Indian community through the party. Now MIC leaders trapped with MIED scandal.

Malaysiakini source stated that AIMST University was officially opened last year but its building and operational costs have ballooned from RM230 million from last year to almost RM500 million now. It is largely funded through donations by MIC members and the public. Why the projects suddenly need additional of large amount of money?

Currently, Samy Vellu blaming MIED top management on the scandal, undeniably even MIED top posts also lead by the MIC leaders. He wants the matter to be solved internally without hand over it to newly established Malaysian Anti-corruption Commission (MACC). The construction of AIMST University is largely funded through donations of Malaysian Indian community.

Hope Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission will look on this matter despite the report of related leaders. Malaysian Indians community not ready to be cheated by these corrupted politicians again!

I Support Hudud Law!

Hudud is the word often used in Islamic literature for the bounds of acceptable behaviour and the punishments for serious crimes. In Islamic law or Sharia, hudud usually refers to the class of punishments that are fixed for certain crimes that are considered to be "claims of God." They include theft, fornication, consumption of alcohol.

Hudud offenses are one of four different kinds in Islamic Penal Law:

• Qisas - meaning retaliation, and following the biblical principle of "an eye for an eye.

• "Diyya - compensation paid to the heirs of a victim. In Arabic the word means both blood money and ransom.

• hudud - fixed punishments
• Tazir - punishment, usually corporal, administered at the discretion of the judge

Hudud offenses are defined as "claims of God," and therefore the sovereign was held to have a responsibility to punish them. All other offenses were defined as "claims of [His] servants," and responsibility for prosecution rested on the victim. This includes murder, which was treated as a private dispute between the murderer and the victim's heirs. The heirs had the right to compensation and to demand execution of the murderer, but they could also choose to forgive.

Hudud offenses include:

• Drinking alcohol
• Theft
• Highway robbery
  
• Illegal sexual intercourse/zina
  
• False accusation of zina
• Rebellion against the rule
• Apostasy includes blasphemy. (Unlike the five offenses listed above, not all jurists consider apostasy to be a hudud offense).

The punishments vary according to the status of the offender - Muslims generally receive harsher punishments than non-Muslims, free people receive harsher punishments than slaves, and in the case of zina', married people receive harsher punishments than unmarried.

In brief, the punishments include:

• Capital punishments - by sword/crucifixion (for highway robbery with homicide), by stoning (for zina' when the offenders are mature, married Muslims)
• Amputation of hands or feet (for theft and highway robbery without homicide)
• Flogging with a varying number of strokes (for drinking, zina' when the offenders are unmarried or not Muslims, and false accusations of zina')

Only eye-witness testimony and confession were admitted. For eye-witness testimony, the number of witnesses required was doubled from Islamic law's usual standard of two to four. Moreover, only the testimony of free adult Muslim males was acceptable (in non-hudud cases the testimony of women, non-Muslims and slaves could be admitted in certain circumstances).

A confession had to be repeated four times, the confessor had to be in a healthy state of mind, and he or she could retract the confession at any point before punishment. However, while these standards of proof made hudud punishments very difficult to apply in practice, an offender could still be sentenced to corporal punishment at the discretion of the judge, if he or she was found guilty but the standards of proof required for hudud punishments could not be met.

Malaysia with the rising crime in society and immoral behavior of youngsters must look forward to implement Hudud law. I think no one fear of Hudud if he or she doesn’t break the law. Those who fear on Hudud law consider as fear on truth and justice.

The purpose of the act as to "be used solely against the communists, I gave a solemn promise to Parliament and the nation that the immense powers given to the government under the ISA would never be used to stifle legitimate opposition and silence lawful dissent"

Stated at the same time that his administration had enforced the act only with a view to curbing communist activity, and not to repress "lawful political opposition and democratic citizen activity"

The fifth Prime Minister of Malaysia, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi

Went on the record in 1988 to state "If we want to save Malaysia and Umno, Dr Mahathir must be removed. He uses draconian laws such as the Internal Security Act to silence his critics." The year before, he had also stated "Laws such as the Internal Security Act have no place in modern Malaysia. It is a draconian and barbaric law." But in 2003 Prime Minister called the ISA "a necessary law," and argued "We have never misused the Internal Security Act. All those detained under the Internal Security Act are proven threats to society."

Initially, the stated purpose of the ISA was to defend communist activity in Malaysia during the Malayan Emergency. Since 1960 when the Act was enacted, thousands of people including trade unionists, student leaders, labour activists, political activists, religious groups, academicians, NGO activists have been arrested under the ISA. Prime Minister had personally signed the detention order that allows the leaders of HINDRAF to be detained without trial for two years.

Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak, The Seventh President of UMNO

Najib will turn into the seventh president of Umno after Datuk Onn Jaafar, Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, Tun Hussein Onn, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. The success may lead him to be the next Prime Minister of Malaysia, according to transition plan that agreed by PM.

To win the post unopposed, a nominee required 134 nominations. Datuk Seri Najib Razak voted as the Umno presidency uncontested yesterday after he clinched 140^th nomination. This automatically denied Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah to challenge Najib Razak in the UMNO presidential contest.

Most of the UMNO members and Malaysian have very high expectations on Najib’s leadership but there are a lot of scandals haunting him, from Altantuya murder case to the political conspiracies against Anwar Ibrahim. Will he able to stop the conspiracies against him to be a good leader in future? The former Pahang Chief Minister also released statement on Malaysia as an Islamic state. In keeping in line with UMNO's strategy of politicizing racial and religious issues, Najib declared on August 2007 that Malaysia has never been secular because being secular by Western definition means separation of the Islamic principles of in the way we govern the country.

Najib had a close aide, Abdul Razak Baginda, who was involved in a high-profile murder case of a Mongolian woman, Altantuya Shaaribuu. In a statutory declaration in his sedition trial in June 2008, Raja Petra accused Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor (his wife) of being one of three individuals who was present at the crime scene when Altantuya Shaariibuu was murdered on Oct 19, 2006, adding Najib's wife, Rosmah Mansor, and Acting Colonel Aziz Buyong and his wife, Norhayati, Rosmah's aide-de-camp, were present at the scene of the murder; Raja further wrote Aziz Buyong was the individual who placed C4 plastic explosive on Altantuya's body and blew it up.

Najib also claimed to be involved in conspiracies against Anwar. Najib denied any personal involvement in the alleged political conspiracy against former deputy premier Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, including a police report alleging Anwar committed sodomy against his former aide. He said the picture of his aide Khairil Anas Yusof with the alleged sodomy victim Saiful Bukhari Azlan at his office had been taken three months ago when the latter, in his capacity as a student leader, came to his office to seek a scholarship.

Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak will be announced as the next UMNO President when the UMNO General Assembly meets in March 2009. Only time will tell us the answers on how he going to lead the party and government. Well, I take this opportunity to congratulate him for the win.
