Anyone Can Be Malaysian Prime Minister?

After read this post, some of my Malays friends definitely have a lot to comment on this issue. I’m very sure they will ask me that how I could show disrespectful by questioning the social contract and Malay’s special rights. But yesterday, our Prime Minister said ‘Anyone can be PM’. So I hope now the message is very clear to Malaysian on what Pak Lah has stated.

The world is moving towards more liberal and I hoped Malaysia too has the same approach to face the reality and the challenges out there. Before this, I only able to ask that ‘can I dream to be a Prime Minister of Malaysia?’, because if I asked it seriously, they may have sent me to Kamunting. Anyway, happy to hear that PM have released such statement yesterday, I heard such a first-class statement very first time by a Malay in Malaysia, pleased once knowing that our PM has such a liberal mentality.

This question I have raised such question many times since I was small. First I asked my father when I was in primary school; my father replied that during independence time that’s possible, but now he doesn’t think so. The same question I have asked to my history teacher when I was in secondary schools, she replied you must be a Malay and Muslim if you want to be a Prime Minister. So, I never give up myself, I expected that anyone will give me the positive answer that will satisfy me. Sadly, no one did it!

Although not very sure whether it’s possible for Malaysian Indian to become Prime Minister, but what in my mind was I thought everyone has equal rights in Malaysia. I lost that believe since a lot of racial sentiments, remarks, riots that indicates impossible for Malaysian Indian. The generation today has spoilt with racist mind, which is the biggest challenge to achieve unity. Thus, it’s important that every Malaysian regardless of their races and religion given equal opportunity in every sector. Start educates the youngs to respect the equality for all Malaysian. We will not able to achieve unity if discrimination happens to any group of people.

Please don’t kill our dream. I think there are still hopes for us to get the equal rights despite the position of Prime Minister.

I WOULD LIKE TO QUOTE FROM THE HISTORIC PUBLIC SPEECH BY MARTIN LUTHER KING
REF : http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/mlkihaveadream.htm

"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.""

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

I HOPE THIS WILL BE THE DREAM OF EVERY SINGLE MALAYSIAN.

Just to bring to your attention of Henry Ford's quotes during his heydays " You can choose any colour you want as long as it is BLACK ". Similarly, " Any one can be Malaysian PM as long as he / she is a MALAY ".
