Initially, the stated purpose of the ISA was to defend communist activity in Malaysia during the Malayan Emergency. Since 1960 when the Act was enacted, thousands of people including trade unionists, student leaders, labour activists, political activists, religious groups, academicians, NGO activists have been arrested under the ISA.

A poll on the Home Ministry's website regarding the Internal Security Act saw an overwhelming majority labeling the security legislation as 'draconian' and calling for its repeal.

As at 12:40pm, a total of 6234 people had participated in the poll, with 5462 (88 percent) dismissing the law which provides for detention without trial as being oppressive and outdated, while 620 respondents described it as a 'preventive law' while another 153 were voted not sure.

The August 1 anti ISA rally was led by opposition leaders, some 30,000 people jammed the traffic arteries of Kuala Lumpur, leading to the police firing tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd. Nearly 600 people were also detained. Of this figure, 29 have been charged with illegal assembly and violating the Societies Act.

I hope this barbaric and draconian law repealed to deliver a better democracy to the people. Let the people to enjoy the real meaning of democracy! This is my opinion. How about yours? Cast your vote here- http://www.ikdn.gov.my/. This is a great opportunity given by the federal government, let’s send a clear message to them.

The Great Dictator

The Great Dictator is a comedy film directed by and starring Charlie Chaplin. First released in October 1940, it was Chaplin's first true talking picture, and more importantly was the only major film of its period to bitterly satirize Nazism and Adolf Hitler. The film is unusual for its period, as the United States was still formally at peace with Nazi Germany.

Chaplin's film advanced a stirring, controversial condemnation of Hitler, fascism, antisemitism, and the Nazis, the latter of whom he excoriates in the film as "machine men, with machine minds and machine hearts". The film was Chaplin's first "talkie", as well as his most commercially successful film.

This video directed to a dramatic plea for democratic values. The greatest speech of democracy I would say! What a fantastic video! I have never seen this film and Chaplin's performance is inspiring here. May he rest in peace!

Malaysia Boleh!

I feel ashamed when Malaysia in the same level as other poor and chaotic nations like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Myanmar, Pakistan and etc. Definitely it’s hard to accept that fact, but we need to admit our failure. Well, we have all advantages more than the nations, then why we couldn’t perform? Within 16 years we drop almost 80 spots from 79th in the world ranking to 157th place. But our leaders keep on saying that our football performances are improving. FUNNY!

Look at the table that I have edited from here and here. This is where we are now! Sincerely nothing to proud of, although there were slim lost to EPL king MU 2-3, it doesn’t mean that your performance has improved. Stop cheating the Malaysians, start reform the team and boost up the Malaysia national team in the FIFA world ranking now!

THIS IS HOW MALAYSIA HAS PERFORMED SO FAR:

'Animal' style investigation in Malaysia?

This video shows Malay speaking policemen assaulting a unknown man. After watching this video, the responsible authorities may say this is not Malaysian police. But where else in the world their national language is Malay other than Malaysia? Only Malaysians speaking Malay, am I right? May be Singapore? But I believe they wont do such actions against a detainee. This 'animal' style investigation are not a proper way during inquiry. Why human nowadays got no heart? If the person was wrong, let court to punish him, why torturing him like this? BINATANG!

Please don’t destroy Kampung Buah Pala!

150 years old Kampung Buah Pala under threat from modern condominium development, the residents of Kamupung Buah Pala couldn’t accept the decision by federal court that they need to vacate their old village. More than 50 families (300 villagers) in Kampung Buah living harmoniously for three generations and now they forced to leave this village.

Kampung Buah Pala village believed to be the large coconut plantation area owned by Margaret Brown. Certainly there seems to be a document testifying that Margaret Brown had stated before leaving for Britain that the land is to be left to the people who were living and working there. This was in 1938. The current residents are believed to be descendants of the original settlers.

This old settlement is located at the heart of the rapidly developing eastern part of Georgetown and also popularly known as 'Tamil High Chaparral' to Penangites due to its traditional population of cowherds. When crews from Malaysiakini visited the village, the residents couldn’t accept the fact that the need to move from their village. Some of them even reject money that offered by developer.

This is a highly cultured village because it was referred to as a model Tamil Hindu settlement, with a traditional population of cowherds and many other essences of Tamil heritage. Kampung Buah Pala needs to be gazetted as heritage property. I hope federal government does something to save our brothers and sisters in Kampung Buah Pala. All Malaysians should support the move to save Kampung Buah Pala. Hope the village not demolished by heartless developer tomorrow. God bless Kampung Buah Pala villagers!
