Ban the Sales of Alcohol in Malaysia

The people who drink are also more likely to get into suicide, divorce, fights and commit crimes than those who don't. These incidents are more rampant among Malaysian Indian than others. Statistics shows that Malaysian Indian is leading the chart of suicide and crimes too. Besides poverty, alcohol is another key factor which drowns Malaysian Indians into social problems. People who drinks regularly often have problems with family members and society.

Alcohol puts our health at risk too. People who continue drinking heavily well into adulthood risk damaging their organs, such as the liver, heart, and brain. Malaysian Teens that drink is more likely to be sexually active and to have unsafe, unprotected sex and resulted to pregnancies that we are witnessing in local dailies often. The risk of injuring yourself, maybe even fatally, is higher when you're under the influence of alcohol. One half of all drowning deaths among teen guys are related to alcohol use especially among Malaysian Indian.

Students who drink always have problems in schools, universities and colleges. Drinking can damage a student's ability to study well and get decent grades, as well as affect sports performance. Now, Alcohol is something that cannot be encouraged. A solution to this problem is through the process of education, starting from children, teaching them about the badness of alcohol. We should create awareness in them about the dangers related to consumption of alcohol so that when they grow up they will naturally stay away from alcohol.

Besides the education, enforcement by authorities is significantly important. The politician must enact new laws that allow alcohol to ban for sales. Although I’m a non-Muslim, I agree the first move of Sham Alam municipal council restrict the sales of alcohol in Selangor. The next step should be the total ban of the alcohol. Other states administrations and municipal councils must follow PAS act to restrict the alcohol sales.

To all non Muslims, think rationally and see the harm alcohol can do and do not reject just because it comes from PAS. It’s doesn’t matter if it comes from PAS, BN, PKR, DAP or others, as long as it bring harmony to the peoples of Malaysia. We clearly know that alcohol bring harm to various stratum of Malaysian citizen. So don’t hesitate to support the restriction of alcohol. For the sake of our future generation, I think it’s better to ban than restrict alcohol!

banning the sales of alcohol in Malaysia is a great ambition. a good and sincere thought for the development of our country.
but it is undeniable that alcohol is part of certain culture here in Malaysia. some people may feel that banning alcohol is equivalent to disrespecting the cultures of others. think about it.

nevertheless, i admire your thoughtfulness to address this matter.

peace to all.

That's why in Shah Alam, the proposal to tighten the regulation of alcohol sales was proposed by an Indian MBSA councilor and supported by Chinese and PAS MBSA councilors

It is not a total ban.. but restrict the sales of alcohol... imagine in section 8, where 85-90% residents are Muslims, 7-11 there sells beer.. and those manning the counter are Muslims... and according to my friend who used to work part time at 7-11.. most of beer buyers are Malay Muslims youths over there in section 8 and 6... and i believe... like U... most non Muslims over there too supports the proposal... ..

I do not agree with you. If they can't drink due to the religion, then don't drink it. it seems to be that they are not confident enough for themselves ie. muslims will not drink. same applies to the yoga issue. if your religion is strong enough, and you are confident enough, what are the worries?

back to the alcohol issue, no doubts it harms our health, but, take note tat if that's the reason to ban it, then ban also KFC, Mc Donalds, Pizza Hurt, etc and may be also all read meats. I believe more people eat KFC than taking alcohol.

cheers!

Sze Jia,
sometimes we need proper law and enforcement to control the humans act...

Malaysian Indian are the victim of alcohol... Even lot of Chinese involved in drunken drive that lead to accidents, the accidents also effects others not only the drivers...

nowadays, more and more teenagers taking alcohol... it will be great lost to the nation if they continuesly addicted to alcohol...

Anak Perlih,
It's a good move by PAS...
Thumbs up for them for restricting alcohol..
But i would like to see it in every states lead by PAS leaders...

It can't be argued that because of some of irresponsible people then it should be entirely ban. It's all depending on yourself. I drink and I don't drive. Know your limits. I see no point at all to ban it just because of certain individuals got drunk and cause troubles.

Agreed, we need proper law to control human acts; however, how about the enforcement of the law? by banning it totally? that's not the way definitely. As far as i am concerned, I'm happy with the current situation and i see no reasons..

i would suggest the enforcement body to speed up their gear on preventing or taking action against muslims from consuming beers/alcohol and may be to educate them.

While you're at it, could you ban Tamil Movies, since they breed gangsterism? Ban smoking completely? Ban beef and pork to all races and religions?

If you want to ban alcohol just because the Muslims are tempted to drink, then the ban all the other god damn things in the list above.

Its rather silly isn't? Just because one group of people can't exercise self-control, the others are made to suffer. If that's the case, then ban everything else also la.

And no, I don't drink and never had.

naga,
its not because of one group of people, but new generations are getting spoil due to the alcohol effect....

its nation's issue, not Muslims issue....!!!!
be open, let we sacrifice for them too...

we know that alcohol only bring harm to everyone... so what's the problem!! can we give up our ego for our Muslim friends?? I think it's nothing wrong!

No hard feelings Vasan. But I still don't see your point. There are so much under aged motorist, should we ban motorcycle entirely? Not ego issue. It's unreasonable to solve the problem by banning it. If we settle the problems in your way, then, cigarettes should be the first thing to be banned, after that KFC, Mc Donald, all those junk foods, it nevertheless spoil the new generation directly or indirectly, like alcohol! Like u said, national problem.. same here!

Then we shall eat grass.Think of it! Again, that's my point of view. Not banning it but regulating it should be fine. No hard feelings. Btw, are you sure by banning alcohol things will get better? I doubt that. Definitely not the solution.

Yes Sze Jia..
Banning alcohol will be a great afford to save our yougsters...

Ok if that's the case, since you said its the nation's problem, then lets ban everything I said in my previous comment.

All those things too affect the future generations, right?

Mr Naga..
why you are going out of topic now?
I'm talking about alcohol...
let we start from alcohol first...

Tamil movies not realy directly effect, but alcohol did...
just compare the smoke and alcohol lar bro..... smoking mainly related to personal health but alcohol is enemy of our society......

about beef and pork, its just food you cant compare alcohol with them...!!

lets think rational a bit...

stick with your view if u would like to see new generation spoil...
