Ban the Sales of Alcohol in Malaysia

After almost a year I wrote this article, I think I need to repost back to support the move on Alcohol ban. The people who drink are also more likely to get into suicide, divorce, fights and commit crimes than those who don't. These incidents are more rampant among Malaysian Indian than others. Statistics shows that Malaysian Indian is leading the chart of suicide and crimes too. Besides poverty, alcohol is another key factor which drowns Malaysian Indians into social problems. A person who drinks regularly often has problems with family members and society.

Let me tell you that the sale and public consumption of alcohol is banned in Brunei. Foreigners and non-Muslims are allowed to bring in 12 cans of beer and two bottles of other alcohol for example wine or spirits into the Muslim country, no distinction is made for alcohol content. This limit used to apply to every entry; in 2007, however, this was changed to one limit every 48 hours. After the introduction of prohibition in the early 1990s, all pubs and nightclubs were forced to close. This is the best example of a majority Islamic nation!

Alcohol puts our health at risk too. People who continue drinking heavily well into adulthood risk damaging their organs, such as the liver, heart, and brain. Malaysian Teens that drink is more likely to be sexually active and to have unsafe, unprotected sex and resulted to pregnancies that we are witnessing in local dailies often. The risk of injuring yourself, maybe even fatally, is higher when you're under the influence of alcohol. One half of all drowning deaths among teen guys are related to alcohol use especially among Malaysian ethnic Indian.

Students who drink always have problems in schools, universities and colleges. Drinking can damage a student's ability to study well and get decent grades, as well as affect sports performance. Now, Alcohol is something that cannot be encouraged. A solution to this problem is through the process of education, starting from children, teaching them about the badness of alcohol. We should create awareness in them about the dangers related to consumption of alcohol so that when they grow up they will naturally stay away from alcohol.

Besides the education, enforcement by authorities is significantly important. The politician must enact new laws that allow alcohol to ban for sales. Although I’m a non-Muslim, I agree the first move of Sham Alam municipal council restrict the sales of alcohol in Selangor. The next step should be the total ban of the alcohol. Other states administrations and municipal councils must follow PAS act to restrict the alcohol sales.

To all non Muslims, think rationally and see the harm alcohol can do and do not reject just because it comes from PAS. It’s doesn’t matter if it comes from Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Rakyat or others, as long as it bring harmony to the peoples of Malaysia. We clearly know that alcohol bring harm to various stratum of Malaysian citizen. So don’t hesitate to support the restriction of alcohol. For the sake of our future generation, I think it’s better to ban than restrict alcohol!

Moderation is the key word. Hence, if a person drinks moderate amounts of alcohol, there is no danger to their health.
If alcohol is banned, illicit liquor production will florish. The age of 'samsu' will evolve and you bet - the Indian community will bear the consequences. The cycle - China man will brew, Indians will drink, the Bumi cops will take the corrupt money from the China man to keep quiet. Hence banning alcohol will have a very negative effect on the Malaysian community. One does not need rules, regulations, laws and bans to live a decent life.

u can not ban a sale of alchocol
coz it will create a black market
u see...in United States ronald reagan(nt sure) launch a war on drugs created anti narcotic agency and other agency and spend billions untill now obama administration and the war on drugs was hard but recent studies found tht war was a failure depite billions spend on it , drugs was now more easily available on the streets then before it was still legal....u know like marijuana was legal back then thtz why govt never ban sales of alcholol yet and apart from the unemployment level will increase the industry...

the beherage industry is million dollar industry and there other suplmenting industry as well now ...it where unemployed level in the world is high..the last thing u want is to ban alcholol if u do the cost benefit analysis u find baning alcholol is not the best idea....

it might sound well theoratically but will not neccessaryly produce an suitable outcome for the society and if at least alcohol was legal...u can monitor its sale the black economics in the world is huge as long there is demand for alcholol...

there be alwayz supply
thtz y i called as law of supply and demand
furthermore , i do not think the sale of alcholol is posstively correlacted with alcholol

u see...indians will still problem regardless whether there is alochol or not.....

it really really depends on the individual.

it is okay to limit the sale of alcholol.... even such move would cost price to skyrocket
And alchol has unelsastic demand....

tht means a major change in price will only cause small change in demand... so..yeah..there will be increase case of snatch theive , robery,.more thefit , indian husband steling their wife jewelry to get access to alcohol

so..yeahlah...my opnion on this.....

mmm...
y so narrow minded?
every problem can be solved if we tighten the enforcement..

let law control the human if human cant control themselves...

it not only sound well theoretically but also practically...

most of the ethnic Indians can be solved if alcohol banned... u see majority of the problems are under the alcohol influence...

HEY BRO! don't u here 'india mabuk' or ' keling mabuk' from polis?
the problem from ethnic Indian r from alcohol! that's the fact!

there r nothing to dent this!

We cannot ban evil lah, my friend.

No doubt smoking or drinking can get very addictive. Nevertheless, if one's will power is strong, he can quit them.

Salam Perpaduan,

Bro,honestly to say that i was amazed to read your post.

I am glad that we, Muslims and the non-muslims share the same thought on liquor.

Alcoholic drinks bring nothing but only damages to our society.

The one way to overcome so many social ills is to ban ALCOHOLO. Support you for that pledge Vasan. If we ban we will not have drink and drive accidents and on and on.... Also the Goverment should look at banning cigarattes. This will safe so many lives.

you cannot totally ban alcohol all at once.

first , we have to educate.
then, we have to restrict.
finally, the ban is justified.

you cannot quit doing something abruptly. steps need to be taken.

Even during the Prophet Muhammad days, when the effect of alcohol were at its worst, He did not completely ban alcohol at once, you can find this in the Quran.

I am a Muslim who doesn't drink alcohol. :)

Why is that in Malaysia, people cannot take their own decisions as to what is good or bad for themselves? It looks like you need your Govt. to hold your hand and walk you through life. Rules, regulations and laws to 'protect' the Nation and the people do not guarantee a healthy society. Grow up guys, make your own decisions. Cheers and 'TAKE BEEER'for health, wealth and knowledge!!!
