Mat Rempits a.k.a Mat Beruks

MAT REMPIT A.K.A MAT BERUK

Mat Rempit is a Malaysian term for 'an individual who participates in illegal street racing', usually involving underbone motorcycles (colloquially known as Kapcai) or scooters. Not all Mat Rempits are involved in street racing; some of them perform crazy stunts for fun, such as the wheelie, superman (lying flat on the seat), wikang, and scorpion (standing on the seat with one leg during a wheelie).

Additionally, some Mat Rempits do not have valid motorcycle licenses, do not pay road taxes, and ride stolen motorcycles. A growing number of housing estates have also been turned into racing tracks. It is estimated that there are about 200,000 Mat Rempits in Malaysia. Initially Mat Rempit community only has Malays as their members, but now Malaysian Chinese and Malaysian Indian youngsters also involving in this sickening culture.

The controversy that created a stir among Malaysians was the unsuccessful attempt by Khairy Kamaluddin and Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim to rebrand "Mat Rempits" as "Mat Cemerlang" during the campaign of the march 8 General Election. "Mat Rempit" is a derogatory term used to refer to youths who aim to win drugs, prostitutes and cash in illegal racings using illegally-modified motorcycles. Mat Rempits involve in all criminal activities, do you think UMNO politicians can rebrand them to ‘Mat Cemerlang”?

Some analysts believe that UMNO Youth is cashing on the large numbers of "Mat Rempits" in Malaysia as preparation for the elections. The suggestion by Khairy that "Mat Rempits" should become the "Eyes and Ears" for the Malaysian Police Force has sparked anger among former victims of "Mat Rempits", who previously had their vehicles smashed by "Mat Rempits".

Khairy even organized a Mat Rempit gathering in Kuala Lumpur and thousands of "Mat Rempits" attended it. It's a pity for Malaysians for having this young beruk sibling as their UMNO deputy youth leader (former now youth leader). He should be sent to the jungle along with the "Mat Rempits" where they can have a peaceful life with their ancestors, the monkeys.

If UMNO politicians continuously ignoring the mounting culture of Mat Rempits, definitely our future generations going to live in a failed nation. In recent times, Mat Rempits have been linked to gangsterism, gang robbery, street fighting, assault, vandalism, theft and bullying. The public are worrying of the safety of their life and property at all times just because of these stupid Mat Rempits.

Some of our politicians are awarding them instead of put them behind the bar. After this, I suggest all Malaysian to call Mat Rempit as Mat Beruk instead of calling them Mat Cemerlang.

actually i would suggest tat, if the police catch the rempit for illegal racing, juz whip them twice with rotan tat use for rapist... if the do the some offence again den double their rotan...

i for sure them wont do again... if we catch the rempit and put them into jail is like giving them vacation and waste the tax payer money for feeding them in the jail..

rotan is most effective, once kena sure scare 1... do more = more rotan...
cost effective somemore... rotan and say bye bye to them...

Hate is a strong word but in this case of Mat Rempit, the word is an acception. I really really hate Mat Rempits a year after I had gotten my driving license. I hate them for they not only endanger other drivers but they do not appreciate their lives but again,

I can’t blame them for being useless. They are so lowly educated that I wonder some of them got their license. Just recenty, I was given a middle finger for something I did right. 3 seconds before turning into a junction, I had already indicated my signal and when I was turning into the junction, a motor appeared out of no where and shouted “Hoi!” and gave the finger signal.

I looked at his bike, it was full of illegal mods such as exhaust, non functioning lights, helmet unlatched and I’m sure the engine itself is illegal. I had numerous experiences with these motorists and the more youngsters I see riding motors, the more I think the Malaysian government should stop producing or encouraging the import of motorbikes. Wreckless car drivers are bad enough and yet wreckless motorbikes? To me, Mat Rempits are nothing but a low educated social disgrace and are one of the source of becoming thieves.

There’s a lot that the government can do but again as I had stated in the HID/Tinting case in PT not long, the government should start off with the enforcers first! Cos they themselves are no different.

Good topic to pick Vasan..I remember doing a project work on this during my lower six 2003.
However, now its a complete different story.I would say that tyhe initial point rempits only
focused on street racing.I use to be a fan as well. Now,we are talking about vandalisme, road bully.
extortion, rape, molest & theft. You must have heard the recent case where a disabled girl was robbed.

These latest breed of hooligans MUST be whipped as Haris shared. In Singapore, those who are charged with
vadalisme is being whipped. So why not rempits..This people are making our streets unsafe regardless any
race you are.Recently, one of my cousins was bashed up by rempits just because he flahed his headlights
asking them to move.As a result,he ended up with 9 stiches on his head as was bashed by helmets.Police
report was made.Guess what the officer said "you tahu pasal depa..pas tu naper nak flash..biar ajerlaa"
Classic situation of ignorance.

We need to ensure that these rempits need to be punished severly to maximum sentence & whipping as well.
Unfortunately, this is Malaysia. There are some rempits still released as our beloved Anti Rasuah Cops asking
for rasuah.As a result,its just like a cicle.It never stops.
