We Need More Judges Like Her

Justice Komathy is a judge of bravery. I knew that it was not easy for Sessions Court judge SM Komathy Suppiah to have decided to reject the prosecution's bid to to transfer Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy case to a higher court, which opposition supporters fear could be politically motivated. But she tend to do the most daring decision at the time.

Before delivering her ruling yesterday, justice Komathy had turned towards lead prosecutor Mohd Yusof and dropped a remark puzzling those in court. "Do I look nervous? I am," she said, without elaborating. Her confession speaks for itself. Why was she nervous? Could it be that she knew that she had to face the consequence? Something unpleasant? Something bad? Of course, a judge has no liberty to reveal 'dark' secrets to the public. Did she receive any undue pressure or threat prior to her decision? I wonder... All I know that she is brave to do what she does best - to deliver justice!

Hope all judges to have the same character as Komathy and not biased and unfair in maintaining the purity of judiciary system.
